Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in domestic competition 30 months since relocating for construction to commence.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators can be present under the licence granted. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, up from the previous 99,000. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.

Stadium Testing

The club conducted a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
