Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
