Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
